Current crime data in Pittsburgh states that out of 30 citizens one will be a crime victim. Small crimes often turn deadly but there are a significant number of deadly crimes in Pittsburgh. The city is 10th from the bottom on a crime comparison scale. YES guns and armed security are needed in Pittsburgh.

Viewing the media interviews of some local residents there seems to be a lack of awareness of the need for security.

I live in the city (do you?). I've lived here almost exactly eight years. I live in a "high crime" zip code. I walk 2.4 miles from my domicile to my office (in the dark). I walk 2.4 from my office to my domicile (in the dark). I often go running (in the dark).

Other than identity theft/forgery, which could happen anywhere, I have never been a crime victim and have never felt threatened living here.

Dig deeper into the violent crime. If you're a law-abiding person you're VERY unlikely to become a violent crime victim in Pittsburgh.

inner city dweller here, and doing just fine. Not too concerned with personal security, and haven't carried a firearm in years since leaving one particularly crime-prone area.

i would not feel this way in other cities where I have lived.

I live in a safe neighborhood with high property crime, but I visit low-income, high-crime neighborhoods a couple of times a week. At no point have I felt unsafe. Most violent crime is between parties who know each other.

We seem to be seeing an increase in the number of non-Pghers on our sub forum. Bobby people.

As to the topic, move to the 'burbs, no crime out here n'at.
