From what I can gather, CCAC partners with local unions for apprenticeship programs. The plumbing one is based in Coraopolis, Sheet Metal based up across the river from Oakmont. More info: https://ccac.edu/SkilledTrades/

I recall seeing electrician and locksmith apprenticeships in the city and south of it. There is also a millwright apprenticeship position in Lawrenceville on indeed.com.

So, not all manufacturing, but blue-collar type stuff.

Just exactly where are all these jobs? They talk about them saying there are half a million job openings in that sector alone but is there any evidence to support that fact?

I will guarantee you if you got some training in mechanical or electrical repair you will not need to hunt for a manufacturer job. The days of being a simple assembler or factory grunt are over, automation has taken those positions. Factory jobs need some form of skill or training.

I'm guessing they're spread throughout the country (the jobs that were filled).

As far as the ones that are open, it looks like you can click the link under the graph and download their data set.

The quote about how 2.4 million are going to go unfilled suggests they're hoping for an extremely unlikely set of requirements, and/or they aren't offering enough money.
