sooo...

we moved away from pittsburgh with our house on the market (or so we thought) and safely in the hands of the agent I used when I bought it. She assured me we were in good hands and went over all of our options and got a set of keys and now we haven't heard from her in about 2 months (moved just after the last time she returned an email about leaving the utilities on).

She was going to wait until we left to show it and put a sign up (we didn't want to show it while we were packing and it was a big mess) and now it looks like even though we signed a listing agreement, there is no MLS listing for the house.

Her name is Tamara Davis (NOT the one who works for Northwood...there are 2 realtors with this name in Pittsburgh. She used to be with Coldwell Banker and now has her own company, Absolute Realty). I even recommended her on this site back in 2008 because she was so helpful.

We have left message after message and sent email after email and even texts. Nothing.

Advice?

I would send her a certified letter ending your listing agreement with her if she does not respond. Normally I would advise you contact her broker of record, but I'm assuming she holds that position. I have access to the West-Penn MLS if you would like me to search it.

Thanks but we're now talking to another agent a friend recommended and filing a complaint with the real estate commission, which should resolve it all. It'll definitely void the contract and allow us to go with someone else.

you should be good if you contact the real estate commission. But yeah, that is very unprofessional to leave a client hanging like she did.

Well If she has a boss I would contact them .. there is only so much you can do. And look at your contract is it for 90 days or 180 days .. because if you signed a contract you are basically stuck until it is expired..and the real estate commision will most likely tell you the same thing.. Has the property been listed on the internet ? If the property has been listed good luck on getting out of the contract...is there anyone local that can go by and check on your property? The market is pretty flooded right now and being it is holidays sales go down in the housing market .. Best time to sell is spring through fall..

Default Important update!

Finally got the resolution to the complaint I filed with the State Department back in 2015, and it's a doozy.

https://www.pals.pa.gov/#/page/searchresult

(She changed her last name at some point. If for some reason that link doesn't take you to her page, search Tamara Thompkins or Absolute Realty)

If you want to read the whole report, make sure you read it till the end so you can see the letter where she admits it. My name isn't redacted, but it's public record, so hopefully any enemies I made here 10 years ago have settled down by now. Also, the house was foreclosed on in 2015, so thanks for that, Tamara Kristin Thompkins!

Also, the "open house" was a straight up lie. We were still living there when she claims to have had it.

AVOID TAMARA K. THOMPKINS AND ABSOLUTE REALTY AT ALL COSTS.
