I have to question the whole resume thing. It is was really fake, I don't think he would be the Superintendent of PPS. I have to question how true that really is. Also, this other crap could be just some simple misunderstanding or whatever. It needs to be looked at, but doesn't mean it is a big deal.

The combination of this and the resume thing really do raise some questions about character. Questions that need to be investigated thoroughly. Hopefully this happens.

Regarding taking a trip and not reporting it, it is hard to imagine this being an honest mistake unless he delegated the filing of the report and his delegate failed at the task. I’ve worked at several very large companies and at every one of them we had annual required training that included a segment on entertainment and gifts for public officials. Short of it is - can’t do it. They have to pay their own way. I am sure the superintendent of a public school system in a major metro area also knows this. He has to know he’s under a microscope.

I think for PPS they need to move on from this fake. He lied on his resume! What kind of example are adults sending the kids at school by allowing this just because of his skin tone? This is getting ridiculous! Hire another black person if you must because during Trump's 4 years, that is the thing to do. Heck make sure it is a black woman as that is the norm now, but PPS needs to move on!

Gotta love Sala Udin's "latte liberals" comment. Lotta truth to that.

RESPECT for Udin who isn't scared to stir THAT pot. Well, he might always have been like that - fearless to be blunt.

I agree. I am disappointed that Hamlet he had made that salary with his spotty references, and now impropriety.

There are probably so many other lower profile politicos doing the same thing. I knew a woman in VA whose worked for a Federal department located in the District of Columbia - their entire department went to Florida for a 2 or 3-day staff team-building thing.

They couldn't have taken a long day at Busch Gardens? Going there would have been as fruitful as their beach bingo soiree, from what she described to me.

And Udin says: “The school district is failing to educate Black children, especially Black boys,” Udin said.

Thank you for reminding us that - THIS is worthy of protest. Someone mention that to those bleeding heart protestors camping out at Peduto's house.

edit: GG, thanks for posting that link. I would have missed that news item entirely.

This whole scenario is a prime example of the clueless, incompetent PPS board choosing someone that is obviously unqualified, and a liar to boot, but clicks all of their oh so progressive boxes.
Just another indication of the rampant corruption & incompetence rampant in these one party cities that will not consider viable alternatives to how they have been governing for so many years.
Who is going to hold these clowns accountable, including the hopeless mayor? Just rinse & repeat every four years.

They ask he Sala wanted to expand on that. "No". What more do you need to say?

My post sucked though. Should have just posted the damn link! Ah well.

I honestly have no idea about Hamlet if he is a good fit or not, but I don't feel he is a great example. Still I never met him and don't know if he is working hard or at least trying. I suspect the job isn't all that easy.

One party rule is autocratic and exclusive (vs. inclusive) by its nature. That can lead to a nasty sort of corruption that stays just below the radar.

But when the other party is tacking far to the other side, do you expect people who favor the middle and might vote for a moderate Republican to follow that party? I think governors like Hogan and DeWine are a good example of executives who can appeal more broadly, but I don't see Republican leaders (Metcalfe, Reschenthaler, etc.) at the local level following their lead.

Based on a simple Google search, El Paso, Miami, Colorado Springs, Jacksonville, all have moderate Republican mayors (with majority Democratic party affiliation) and almost all are larger than Pittsburgh, so it is possible.

Wow, Miami. Who would have guessed that?

Colorado Springs is a Republican mecca due to its huge military bases. Tough little place.

Thanks for the correction on Colorado Springs. I just assumed it was "Rocky Mountain High" like most of the other larger cities there. I must have been thinking of Boulder.
