No question. There is a huge arrogance as well. It’s a we are special and you are not attitude. Pittsburgh and Allegheny County gave the middle finger to the gas drilling industry. It would be ironic if the beaver and Ohio valley areas grew with residents while Pittsburgh continues to decline. It’s hard to feel sorry for the county and city anymore. They cut their own noses off despite their faces. While gaslighting the cheerleaders. And to be honest there is a chance the gas drilling results in growth in population for those areas while bypassing Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh has hung its hat on bests lists and a lot of talking. It has yet to stand and deliver. It could be dead last again with population decline losing the most residents again. The 2020 census is pretty much here. And yes West Virginia has its issues. It gets bad press. But overall it is a decent place to live. When is Pittsburgh going to capitalize on all of this positive press?

I see someone doesn't realize there aren't many places in a county with 1.2 million people you can legally drill for natural gas.

Actually, they're spending $3 billion over the next few years building three new medical centers in the city of Pittsburgh. That's a huge addition to the local economy and will bring jobs for skill levels from janitors to neurosurgeons, not to mention the administrative staff, restaurants, hotels, construction jobs, and more that go with that kind of project.
