The EQT Three Rivers Regatta was canceled Tuesday, just days before the signature Pittsburgh festival was to start, because of what officials described as “falsified” records, misrepresentations and lack of payments to vendors by promoter LionHeart Event Group.

Well this is certainly a surprise!

I watched the interview. Apparently they haven’t paid the city for police in a while? Peduto and Fitz have known for a while this was going to happen. The 11th hour political game to save face. An investigation? Baloney... I’d love to see the findings of this investigation. Especially if they haven’t paid fees for a few years. People knew about it. Nothing more than saving face at the 11th hour.

Thumbs down The incompetence of our "leaders"

This is a disgrace this happened only a few days before the event. This again shows the incompetence of our "leaders". If had been a bike lane project "Bike Lane" Bill would have been on top of it.

Many vendors travel to events like this and now will lose the revenue and probably incur some expenses. LionHeart Event Group should be held accountable to the full extent the contract allows.

Even this is Peduto's fault! 😂

You people are too much. Tell us more, voice from the 'burbs.

This was scheduled for this weekend. Many people participate in this event and incur costs to be there. Many people make a living selling at events like this. Our "leader" waiting until a few days before the event to cancel it and were not proactive enough to resolve this issue long ago. In the private sector these people would be fired but in the public sector they are reelected or promoted. "Bike Lane" Bill is only interest in his image outside this area. Maybe the national media should show some pictures Grandview Avenue.

He obviously knew the company was already in arrears to the city for $28,000, so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise when the company wasn’t up to putting on the event.

Are you saying Peduto isn’t at all to blame?

The regatta is run by a non-profit board of directors, not the city or the county. It's a 501(c)3 and is funded largely by corporate and foundation sponsorships. The Board also distributes annual grants to nonprofit causes that promote clean rivers and recreational use by the public on the rivers. The city and the county have little to nothing to do with the planning, besides providing access and public safety.

If you want to read some ignorant and totally uninformed comments, scoot on over the the teevee station comments pages on social media. Every other one mentions bike lanes.

"Bike Lane" Bill knew about this situation long before this week yet he said nothing. People make a living from events like this one and now those people are screwed. Some of them were probably on their way here from the last event.

I assume there is no politics involved in being named and serving on that board?
