Just wanted to remind people if they want to check it out. I hesitate to post it as it seems it will somehow turn negative. This is usually a fun time with fireworks. The fire in Market Square shouldn't be an issue.

Gee, what would ever make you think that when you post something in this forum?!? /s

My friends and I go every year. Really fun way to start out the holiday season and get together with each other over a nice dinner and drinks. Always fun to see downtown so packed full of people, as in next-level Times Square-style packed full of people.

Thanks. I love downtown bustling. Downtown used to be rather packed most days in days of yore, though.

Kaufmann's, Gimbel's, Horne's and Sak's. Meeting santa on floor ___? of Kaufmann's. Kids area to buy gifts for your folks..

Imagine a time when four department stores operated downtown. Movie theaters, etc. Those were magical times.

Ah well.

At least we may soon have a Target. That's one store! I would also LOVE a Boscov's Downtown!

And also the Jenkins Arcade shops, up until the early 80s when that was torn down.

It was great times, but these times are more about convenience, so you can look at it positively or negatively. We can go on line and get what we need and it often is here the next day. No driving no crowds. I miss the Kaufmann's decorations the most. Those windows were amazing. I don't miss Liberty Avenue back in those days. It was a dump.

There will be fireworks and festivities. It will just be different.

Just a reminder to folks that the Gingerbread Houses have moved from their usual spot in the Wintergarden of PPG Place. They're now at the City-County Building. https://www.pittsburghpa.gov/gingerbread/

The Spirits of Giving Display that was also in the Wintergarden has been relocated to the lobbies of One PPG Place and Two PPG Place. Spirits of Giving From Around the World | PPG Place
