KDKA radio isn't owned by CBS, but by Entercom. The TV station is owned by CBS.

so actual call letters mean nothing in the business sense...they are just for FCC identification?

Entercom can change its call letters for any reason, if they wanted to, while the television entity stays KDKA?

Interesting. In another life, i was a television news team person or reporter.

KDKA radio and KDKA-TV were at one time both owned by Group W, which was the broadcasting arm of Westinghouse. Group W owned other stations around the country and produced syndicated programming for national distribution, like "Evening Magazine" and "PM Magazine." TV and radio were both housed in One Gateway Center downtown. Group W dissolved when CBS bought Westinghouse in the 1990s, and the TV station is now owned by CBS. I forget at what point the radio station was sold. But their studios are now in Greentree.
