Do you mean Larry & Carol's on Semple in Oakland? Yes they're most def still there...Fiori's on W. Liberty in Brookline has the best pies made by mob muscle (in Pgh, that is). I've loved Chicago's in Mt. Lebanon (next to St. Clair Hospital on Bower Hill Rd) for as long as I can remember.

I'd vote Monte Cello's pizza is as close as your going to get to NY style pizza other than that Pizza Hut and Papa John's are the best

I lived in NYC for four years and I gotta say most of the pizza was as crappy as anywhere else. There were three coal-fired places around the Village and Little Italy that were to die for and I heard fables about places out in the armpit of Brooklyn. Most of the pizza there was greasy warmed over crap made by Mexicans and Albanians.

And yes, I know the difference between good and bad pizza.

Default Di Carlo's

Next time you are an hour southwest of Pgh in Wheeling going to Cabella's or gambling at the dog track or whatever try Di Carlo's in the Elm Grove section of Wheeling. It must be THAT Di Carlo's, not any of the other ones. Problem is they don't open until 3:00.

Pizza Hut and Papa John's have no business being mentioned in a thread about good pizza!

I think the diCarlo's in downtown Wheeling is owned by the same people it has their trademark hot pizza with the cold cheese.

Monte Cello's isn't even NYC style pizza. Have you ever had NYC style pizza? Have you ever BEEN to NYC? Pizza Hut? Papa John's? What is wrong with you!? Go try some of the other pizza places mentioned in this thread. Wow.
