For generations of shoppers, the former Kaufmann’s/Macy’s department store was the go-to place Downtown. Could one of the country’s top retailers be on the verge of bringing back some of that magic?

The Target discount department store chain has been eyeing the iconic Smithfield Street building for a possible store, according to multiple sources.

Is this just a rumor spun up by the P-G, or has anyone else heard of it too?

Why? Retail downtown, and especially accessible retail that could contain a grocery component, is something many have been mentioning for a long time...

The hotel has opened recently (like within the last 4-6 weeks). Its name is EVEN.

With population in Strip set to explode, that could be a game changer for viability of downtown grocery.
But I wouldn't want to walk that far for groceries.
Not sure if weekday downtown workers could support a Target. Maybe a mini-Target.

All that red..downtown needs a better grocery but not Target not the right fit. Something a little classier perhaps.

I guess the return of the Tic Toc was just hot air. I cannot recall who promised it would return..?

Loved that place. Almost as iconic as the clock.

Downtown has a classier grocery store and it costs $7 for a jar of pasta sauce. Target would also help for other daily needs and you would havent to pay the ridiculous prices at CVS.

As for TicToc, last I heard was some conversation about the city owned store fronts that are along Smithfield under Mellon Square.
