Funny enough, I was on this company's website last week when I was researching modular home companies. I have watched many of Kirsten Dirksen's videos before and they're usually fantastic.

I like the idea of modular these days. There is no reason it can't be done with quality and in a contemporary design. Fun to look at, but I don't know much about them really.

Quality modular homes have been built for decades. One of the toughest parts is transporting them.

Transport is hard but its still easier than building on site. Some damage during transport at times. You just have to accept that it will be harder to sell if you ever opt to move.

Forget the name, but I liked the show where log homes were built indoors, taken totally apart, transported to their site, and rebuilt.

Never saw it but it makes sense. If you can mass product materials for a set of plans it is going to be cost effective. Quality can still be good but depends more on the installer. Part of my other job deals with many mobile home installers. Both of my parents at some point had mobile/modular homes and even the mobile homes were really nice. Just the stigma and lack of bank loan options hold them back. Also many communities have restrictions.

The shows homes were custom and often used trees/wood from the future site of the home, however, I’m sure they had plans for those that didn’t care about a custom home.

I’ve heard it argued that quality is better due to being built in climate controlled buildings where the builders were happier than building in heat/cold. Also, everything can be inspected there while they’re being built. There’s obviously pros and cons but pretty interesting concept.

According to the video it's owned by one of the adjacent property owners (folks on the corner of Latham and Coral) who intend to use it as a parent/in-law suite.
