Seeing people start talking about "gentrification in Pittsburgh" years after I first sounded the alarms on here and was dismissed as being an alarmist is so vindicating.

There's also a brand-spanking new one at 1450 Fifth Avenue. Again, market rate. Fairly small building (five stories, 29 units). It came in under the new Uptown zoning, so there's less than one space per unit, which is what made the building feasible.

Looking on Apartments.com, whole houses in Uptown apparently now rent for as much as $2,000 per month!
My wife's uncle lives in the loft style apartments on Forbes Ave. He is a retired Pitt police officer and veteran. Looking at the brochures in lobby leads me to believe that it is subsidized in some way. He has a two story loft and his living/dining area has the arched windows framing downtown. I would love to liver there.

Imagine if you would have bought a home then. You would be rich.

This is great! Parking minimums are an odd market distortion, so hopefully this leads the way to more construction.
