Until there's a vaccine how do you propose we handle leaving our homes to get the economy running again? What will you and your loved ones do to protect yourselves from catching or spreading the disease? How will we deal with it in the workplace? In schools? On public transit? How will hospitals handle the dramatic rise in cases? These are the numbers now https://ncov2019.live/data with all our social distancing efforts.

We don’t have an effective vaccine against the flu and that killed millions of people 102 years ago. Tens of thousands die from it, maybe more in the US each year. They don’t post those numbers because people would panic and never leave home.

In 2010 we let the H1N1 virus rip. Approximately 80-100K deaths in the US and 60 million infections. There is no vaccine for that either. We did not shut down and it has the potential to come back.

My point is we have disease that comes back each year and kills tens of thousands every year. There is no foolproof vaccine. We make everyone aware when it is cold and flu season to wash hands stay home etc. This virus is here to stay. It needs managed. Instead we instilled undue panic. People are afraid to leave their homes. We need to protect the vulnerable and elderly. Everybody else should be working. The country has been shut for 6 weeks now. There is nothing more that can be done. Curves have been pushed down. We just need to learn how to manage it much like with the flu or how we did with H1 N1 not shutting down.

I believe all of this panic is happening with a purpose. I also believe this disease was mutated in a lab and released on purpose. It is not a doomsday disease. It is to be a distraction to push the world economy down on the wake of Brexit and Mr. trade deal in the whitehouse. While this distraction goes on power, energy and money shift behind closed doors. There is more to this event than meets the eye and it goes just beyond making the American public miserable enough to vote the orange haired gorilla out of office.

Ok, well enjoy your stay in the looney bin, as the gentlemen with the white coats will be around to administer your medicine in a bit.

Right, because it all started by eating a bat, and China told everyone about the virus as soon as they knew about it, lol.

Coronavirus has been around forever. This is a mutated strand of it. It lives on surfaces for days etc. Hundreds of countries in the world with various living conditions. Viruses everywhere and yet no panic to shut things down. This isn’t a doomsday kill all people virus. Timing couldn’t have been better and you couldn’t buy a coincidence like this. On the eve of a US election and Brexit. Who is feeling the most pain right now? Europe and the US. Global economy is resetting. Transfer of wealth, money and power across the world. This is a distraction and it worked. 99.9 percent of people will survive and go on.

People have been comfy here with no worries, making money, doing gigs and buy buy buy. Push the population down and control it. Now it is upended and people in this country are afraid and in panic. We allowed the government to shut down the economy. We rolled over and died for a distraction. When we wake up the economic damage is going to be deep and lasting. That is what people will remember because those that actually die from this disease is going to be small and barely register on a global and national basis.

If only there would’ve been someone in the White House that was more soothing this would’ve never happened.

It may be lasting and deep for you and Weirton, but the economy will certainly come back. Many take advantage of the doomsday talk and make fortunes in times like these.

We'll deal with it simply by dealing with it. The same way that we deal with influenza - which kills tens of thousands of Americans every year. The same way we dealt with H1N1.

We can't cower in our homes forever and keep printing dollars out of thin air.

Not to mention that we're condemning hundreds of millions of people worldwide to poverty by the global economic suicide that we're inducing. How many of them will die? Nobody seems to care.

My personal belief is that this was deliberately released by the Chinese government in order to end domestic political opposition to the Communist Party's dictatorship, and to end international condemnation of the human rights abuses within China.
Since this has happened - have you heard of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong? Have you heard of Uighars being used as slave labor in concentration camps?

Never forget that the Chinese Communist Party killed tens of millions of their own citizens in the 20th century during the Cultural Revolution and the Great Leap Forward, in order to consolidate power. Why would that same Party flinch at killing tens of thousands in the 21st century in order to achieve the same objective?

I dont think China intended this to spread globally - as now they're paying a high price for their malfeasance... but I do think they deliberately released this within China and then hoped to control it within China.

I have no doubt this was a planned release. It’s just so ridiculously convenient. Sad part is it will happen again at some point unless something can be done with the disgrace of a country that China is.

I do love the bat excuse. Been LMAO at that one since it was said....and the abundance of memes were quite hilarious.

Trump is part of it, but not the main reason. What is your obsession with Weirton?

I have taken money and invested long term in energy and pharmaceutical stocks. You don’t think I know that? The gas drilling stocks are insanely low. You will probably never have a chance like this again to buy so cheap.

And thinking we are going to snap out of this is just foolhardy. It’s going to be rough months and maybe a few years ahead. It will come back but not for months and maybe a year or longer. Invest in stocks now for the long term. Short term will be a recession.

A vaccine for the novel H1N1 flu strain, commonly referred to as the swine flu, was offered to at-risk groups in the Fall of 2009. There was not enough time to mass produce it, so it was mainly available to those most at-risk: children, pregnant women, and the elderly. There were special clinics in our area that offered it to children.

The seasonal flu shot for 2010/2011 included protection against the 2009 H1N1 strain that had caused the pandemic.

A more salient point for your argument would be that there has never been a successful Coronavirus vaccine.

ETA: You can’t stay shut down indefinitely waiting for a vaccine that may never materialize. Ever since the AIDS epidemic first became big news, there have been people saying that a vaccine was forthcoming; thirty years later and still no vaccine.
