I think the house next to me might be Section 8. The neighbors are making my life a living hell. They are the loudest, loutish people I've ever encountered. These young women, kids (ranging from babies to teenagers) and the random people that hang around are like a pack of wild animals in that they are constantly hanging outside the house, hooting, hollering, the little kids screeming, squeeling, screeching and running around like they are hyperactive and have no discipline over their motor activities. (and if anyone has the instinct to think they are minorities...wrong).

I wonder if anyone knows how you can find out if a property is Section 8. I've heard that you can complain if Section 8 tenants are destroying the peace in a neighborhood.

Your only option is build a fence, hedges or call a realtor and move. If nothing illegal is happening you cant do anything.

They could just be trashy people who can pay the rent, too.

Bingo....and a large reason why I like plenty of room between my neighbors.

Right, what would you do if they're not section 8? It's not illegal to be obnoxious.

Isn't "unreasonable obnoxiousness" what public nuisance laws are for?

My daughter was living in a house I owned, and it was a rolling party house about every night. The police would setup around the corner and often would stop every car that left that house in search of people with outstanding warrants, no drivers' licenses and no insurance. They wouldn't admit it, but they were in search of drugs and other illicit activity.

I cannot tell you how many cars were impounded and how many people went to jail after these police stops. One day, I got a letter from the District Attorney stating they were going to impound the house and sell it at auction unless we evicted my daughter.

I ended up having her evicted, took possession and sold the house for about what I had in it. Now she's a couch surfer 3 years later, unemployed and on ankle express. She deserves whatever life deals her.

man, you are an old school dad! hopefully she is young enough that she will get over this, not be bitter about it, get straight (no drugs/alcohol) and make a decent life with a place of her own.

can i ask if this was in the city of pittsburgh (i am always curious at how effective and strict different forces are).

i applaud your tough stance, but i hope your relationship with her is not frayed and damaged.
