I read here, awhile back, that Pittsburgh is old school (as usual) in that the best way to find a home for rent is to drive around and look for For Rent signs( that was awkward). Is that still the case? With our move less than a month away, I have been cruising Craig's list and the like and am a little disappointed at the quantity, not the quality, of rental homes I have found in areas we are considering. I would love to hear that, when we get there, there(akward again) will be rental signs abounding and we will find our dream home in a single afternoon out. Help me out will ya

I can't say that I see a lot of for rent signs on homes in the area... plenty of for sale though. Apartments are a different story of course. Where are you looking to move and what sort of house are you looking for?

We are, of course, enamored with the Squirrel Hill/Greenfield area and that is our first choice but we are considering many areas in the city including Brookline, Dormont (not in the city), and Brighton heights to name a few. We are looking to spend around a grand a month (up to 1100) and want at least 3 BR. Unfortunately, we are only looking for single family homes because we have been homeowner's for too long and like our surround sound too much to share a wall with someone If anyone has any leads or ideas, feel free to post them here or send me a DM. I must admit I am starting to get nervous.
Oh, and if anyone knoews any Glass Shops looking for a journeyman glazier with oodles of experience, personlity and leadership abilities...my hunny is the man for you/them!!

I have to say that given what you are looking for (size and neighborhoods), it may be less likely that the landlord would not have placed an ad at least in the Post Gazette. So while it isn't impossible you will spot something driving around that hasn't been advertised, I wouldn't count on it.
