I went back into Ancestry and looked up 1930’s census. Using the last name Kerr, location of Monaca, Beaver County PA, and came with a Robert Kerr retail owner of Milk Depot and his son,Merle, a truck driver for Milk Depot. They lived in a house on Atlantic Street.

I couldn’t find them in the 40’s.

That's interesting -- I ran "Robert Kerr" and Monaca through newspapers.com and got a January 1935 article indicating that the State's "milk control board" had barred 5 milk dealers, including Robert Kerr (owner of the Monaca Dairy), from selling milk due to the fact that they had underpaid producers. Kerr/Monaca Dairy had underpaid producers by over $1,200. Sadly, just another small milk dealer done in by "Big Dairy," I guess.

Man, I just love research.

Tallysmom,

That's fantastic information. Is there any way that you can post that 1930s census that shows both Robert and Merle Kerr working at Milk Depot? If not, can you send that information to my email address?

Doowlle34,

Wow! That is very interesting information too! Is there any way that you could post that article here? Also, do any advertisements pop up for Monaca Dairy that you could post here?

I’ll try.

It’s coming out blurry. I’ve tried a couple of times. I don’t want to save it to my tree since I’m not related. The only other thing I can suggest is go to familysearch.org and open a free account. They do not spam you, they do not try to proselytize, and you can easily get a copy there that you can save to your computer which will be clearer I’m sure. Years ago, you could find censuses everywhere. My guess is that ancestry bought everything.

Also, a lot of public libraries have a library subscription to Ancestry. You could go to your local library, look it up there and print it out, there’s probably a cost for printing, but you can get one there. And I’m sure if they belong to Ancestry, they probably belong to newspapers.com and you could get the other article from there too.

Hopefully your library‘s are open. Ours aren’t, it’s driving me crazy.

Here is one of the articles, which basically all contain the same information. From what I could tell, it may be that "milk depot" was in common usage in the first half of the 20th century as a synonym for "dairy" or wholesale dairy.

Tallysmom,

I appreciate your trying to post a picture for me. No, the libraries aren't open here either. But I will look at your suggestions. Thanks again for trying.
