Jim Crow was way back in 1865–1877! Wholly crap, how many generations do we have to carry this? Hitler died in 1945. Way more recent.

The Jews have a lot of power in Hollywood. They use the media to their benefit. You don't think I am telling the truth? Hmmm, lets have a look at how many films are made of the Holocaust. Do you think they are getting their message across using media? You bet they are. I can't even count how many!! 100's? Wow.

Black slavery films? Not that many really. Lots of slavery films as there were a lot of slaves all over the world of all races.

Glad we all grew from those days in most of the world, but there are more slaves in the world today than way back in the American slavery days. Sad to say.

Awe GG...this is shameful. You really need a US History lesson. Jim Crow ended in 1968 with the civil rights act. Jim Crow ended on paper but still exists today. So Jim Crow was around long after Hitler's demise.

The US will carry this burden until reparations are paid to US descendants of slaves.......similar to how european jews were given Isreal. Show me the money which would be in the trillions.

Jim Crow laws were a collection of state and local statutes that legalized racial segregation. Named after a Black minstrel show character, the laws—which existed for about 100 years, from the post-Civil War era until 1968—were meant to marginalize African Americans by denying them the right to vote, hold jobs, get an education or other opportunities. Those who attempted to defy Jim Crow laws often faced arrest, fines, jail sentences, violence and death.

Black Codes
The roots of Jim Crow laws began as early as 1865, immediately following the ratification of the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery in the United States.

Black codes were strict local and state laws that detailed when, where and how formerly enslaved people could work, and for how much compensation. The codes appeared throughout the South as a legal way to put Black citizens into indentured servitude, to take voting rights away, to control where they lived and how they traveled and to seize children for labor purposes.

Extremely sad that people still live so far in the past and can’t let go of what generations before have done.

Jim Crow laws were just in the south eastern states, not in PA or the powerhouse states of the time. They certainly were horrible and there is no denying that, but it didn't exist in PA, so the south has to deal with that. Oh and that was all democrats that put that crap in place. Seems you forgave them in a big way as most blacks vote for democrats. I find that interesting.

And yet you stauchly oppose the removal of the Columbus statue because it's deleting history. Which history are we supposed to be remembering, and which is okay to forget?

Why not let the past be the past and simply learn from it?

Why blame people today who had nothing to do with generations ago?

History should be taught and not erased. False history should be eliminated and called out. I say keep the Columbus statue and add a plaque telling the true story of Columbus. I believe at one time i saw a documentary where a southern city was doing that with old Confederate statues.
