The Fan is not even an option for me. The only sports talk I'll listen to are Madden and Savran. The Fan is just awful. Not one good talk show host on there, and in any given 30 minute segment, you get about 12 minutes of actual sports talk. The rest of the time is devoted to updates and commercials. Do they still advertise Zero Rez and Matt Mertz? That's all I used to hear. I quit listening five years ago. The hosts on that station are insufferable. When I used to listen it was Starkey and Mueller saying "Kraiggers" every minutes sandwiched in with some "Buffalo's got a spirit" song. Mueller with his craft beers and going off on tangents about non-sports segments. The absolute worst. I'm sure nothing has changed in the five years I've avoided that crap station.
Yes

The Fan hasn’t changed any of that and imo it’s gotten worse. The morning show is definitely the best of the options imo, and they added Crowley. I can’t listen to Prisuta on WDVE. They gets interviews with Ray Fittipaldo who covers the Stillers and I would only listen to Cooke and Joe for Tomlin press conference coverage and interviewing Ed Bouchette who covered the Stillers but just recently retired so I listen even less to them.

Since Crowley is on The Fan, then that makes one good host that station has employed. I'm with you on Prisuta - can't tolerate him at all.

Tim Benz provides good insight and is a good talker. My only beef with him is that he gets too indignant over what local fans say and likes to harp on that a bit too much to the point that it becomes annoying.

Is Dan Kingerski still on The Fan? Years ago he used to do Penguins talk, which very few in this city can do well.

Dan Kingerski AKA Bud Moonshine… I don’t think he is. He’s focused on his “Hockey Now” network.

He's been relevant for greater than two and half decades. Kudos to Madden. No one can talk as good as he can.
lol

Imo Benz doesn’t have the charisma to pull it off like Madden does when dealing with certain fans, especially the homering yinzers…and Madden will often be over it and move on instead of harping on it.

Kingerski isn’t on the Fan anymore.

I like Cook when he's solo. His partner stinks. I don't give a crap about his personal life.

Great point. I find him tolerable by himself. Starkey is brutal and so does love talking about his personal life. Poni and Mueller do too. I can’t imagine anyone cares about it and especially talk of their wives. It’s tough to believe these are the best Audacy/CBS radio has to offer.

It was always difficult for me to listen to Cook speak. He's dry and inarticulate. I was of that opinion when he used to do sports talk fill-in shows on KDKA many years ago. He's a better writer than he is speaker. Same with Starkey and ditto for Zeise.

When The Fan started back in 2010, I used to look forward to hearing Cook and Vinnie Richichi because it was entertaining hearing Vinnie making a dumb comment and listening Cook go off about how dumb it was.

Starkey is kind of odd and I never cared to hear about his personal life. That goes for all those guys. The only host who mostly stuck to sports was Fillipponi. Not sure if that still holds true, especially given the conehead co-host he has now. Does Mueller still have that verbal tic of saying "Kraiggers" every few minutes?

Madden is right when he refers to the hosts on that station as "The B-Team." I think "B" is even a bit generous.

I can’t wait to hear MM talk more about Juju’s “farewell party” today. Imagine the crowd of pathetic fan girl and fanboy virgins in attendance.

Good riddance. Hopefully with him gone Claypool doesn’t continue to act the clown.
