There is an easy and cheap way to avoid getting run over while protesting. Stay out of the street.

A 32 year old woman died when that jagoff drove his car into that crowd in Charlottesville.

You're quite a piece of work...

Shouldn’t be in the road and things like that wouldn’t happen, and let’s not forget the drivers who stop and get attacked, beaten, injured, etc..., by those clowns.

Exactly and it wasn't an accident where a car just happened to be driving like normal, it intentionally intended to kill people.

I think that the special safe places for street protestors is a marvelous idea. It's pretty neat to be living in an age that will inevitably serve as an enigma to archeologists of the distant future. Much like we studied the bronze era and stone age when we were in school, the youth of the future will study our current retarded era as well.

While it's truly nice that you did these things, O.P., why would you a.) "out" your true identity on an otherwise anonymous forum and b.) create a thread to tout your lofty accomplishments?

Perhaps it's a Midwestern trait, but as a child, I was taught that it was considered to be rude to brag about oneself.....

BPS, good stuff! I didnt zoom in to read the article you posted (i prefer anonymity on city-data and not even knowing who's who in real life). *Handshake* for your efforts!

its been a few years, but i used to tutor for Literacy Pittsburgh.
I had at times taken a plastic garbage bag on power walks, to gather litter on the way.

i (sometimes) overtip considerably (20% or greater) for takeout food where i thought/guessed it would go to good use for the person's future (totally not based on science - just a hunch the person does have the wherewithal to progress).

i consider where i park - will i block a turn? too close to an intersection - blocking a driver's view of oncoming traffic or a pedestrian, etc.? Let's be real - cars are a great convenience and a benefit, but do deteriorate quality of life to a great deal in old, dense urban neighborhoods.

keeping an eye on blind and very old in public, to make sure they dont miss a bus, or get killed crossing a street, or get into a building OK, whatever else...

hold doors for anyone behind me, with the ulterior motive that a silent mssg might come across that regardless of your gender or race or sexual orientation, little courtesies are still bestowed on you because you are a neighbor, a person of value.

i do not vote for democrat mayors or council 80% of the time. a failed effort, but its about principle.
