If you want to compare this with Antwon Rose for example, I am happy to do so. Antwon was in a bullet riddled car coming from a drive-by shooting that they shot the man in the stomach, but he survived. The officer knew the car was the one as it was all over the radio and Antwon fled in the middle of a traffic stop. He had a clip on him, but cops aren't going to know what he has and they need to protect the community at large. A drive by. Nuff said. Anyway, this was just some car driving around fleeing. No guns. No protests. Why? That was my only question. It isn't about me, it is about a subject.

People sure love to hate though. Filled with hate I should say.
Rose was just another criminal that had to learn the hard way.

that is...disturbing. is this the future we've worked for? a Clockwork Orange-like society, like what Latin America has seen for decades.

and people scoff at the rich behind security gates....

BUT - that is RT. i cant put my finger on it, and i am one of hte lesser newshounds here, not consistently keeping up with events as they unfold, and facts...but i recall thinking over the years that RT seems like a slanted source.

i am hoping that 500% increase is mis-reported, then. there are good people everywhere and they suffer and are denied happiness and security when other people mis-use their freedom and act like savages.

look online - you can learn a language, for free. you can learn to fix your car, for free. you can earn a degree in something new, for cheap. no reason at all to carjack someone unless you are a piece of scum.

Scum is the key word...and these scum are being enabled to do things like this because the enablers simply need to learn the hard way because they’re not smart enough to see the problem happening beforehand...and personally, I think it’s great that they’ve gone to such lengths to enable these clowns as I very much love seeing be careful what you wish for scenarios coming to fruition like this.

I’d wager 500%+ isn’t misreported and it’ll probably get worse.

It is just some growing pains I guess. The anti-police movement is an interesting study. We all will learn. I think Pittsburgh is quite mellow compared to Minneapolis of course, but we will also rise in crime. Shame. So much work was done and I watched Pittsburgh from the 70's to its new peak around 2010, to its next low today.

Here is another article on erieguy's post from the most moderate of news sources these days.

nothing to add except a snarky comment, of course.

i just dont get the people known as the 'left' here. I totally get their dislike of the current administration, and of the GOP in general - not that i agree w/ then fully, but i understand their perspective, at least.

but if you talk about DIRECT quality of life issues that are in the hands of the populace, they are unable to deal with it. anything where you can make a villain the government, sure, but for self-responsibility and freewill criminal behaviour, they just don't engage. its like they are fearful to look at the truth.

it's like the government is always up to no-good, yet on the streets of minneapolis, its your neighbor carjacking and stealing. not 'government police' (nice try trying to label it as Trump's own little army). not the FBI (which we all know is anti-minority - its so obvious )...no, its people you LIVE with, share the bus with, your fellow citizen.

but oh, i'm being so silly, aren't i?

and of course, this is minneapolis, but this IS city-data - we talk about urban life, #1. and its still in our country, which we should all care about, #2.

thanks for a backup link....but i wanna see it from a minneapolis paper, or Mary Richards' own WJM report on it

if no one does that, i will look for a local minneapolis report on it later or early tomorrow.

now...who can turn the world on with a smile?

Wouldn’t expect anything less from those that defend this type of activity, “because police”. When those that defend these clowns become victims of their behavior, only then will they change their minds...and it obviously hasn’t taken long for that to happen in Minneapolis, and soon “coming to a city near you”, should the defunding continue.

you'll be surprised. there are people out there, inner city residents, who know whats going on. they do not approve. how they voted i dont know, nor that it makes a difference here. they will fight these idiots and you watch - post-pandemic, there will be heads rolling when they defend their property against these criminals.

Every time a cop shoots and kills a violent murderous criminal in the act millions of dollars are saved and you resemble the childhood of my Chicago youth
