Bingo. Will the areas outside of the east end show up in droves for a different democrat?

Do you want a Target on North Avenue? Or new residential - some rehabbed 5 or + high rises in the north side?

There is only so much to go around, first of all. East Liberty has a road system designed for more mobility. It had the space and empty buildings ripe for a revival.

As a result, we are talking the evil gentrification and all that comes with it. Do you want that for the north side?

A better question - what have Wilson or Lavelle done for their districts that gives residents peace of mind or more access to betterment?

Its just a damned if you do, damned if you don't. Ravenstahl and Peduto have had success in revitalizing this city.

I guess I get the gripe of a lot of people, but Peduto is putting all his eggs where the most growth and new money is in the city. It goes back to people looking toward the government to soothe them and solve their problems. That’s where I see the disaffected democrats in the city no different than the MAGA folks that want a mayor or president to pay more attention to them.

Same thing with the Federal Government. Those with money get the attention. Those that don’t won’t. It’s been the same forever.

I get the gripes on both ends, but ultimately this country is a constitutional representative republic. You need to carry your own torch to get ahead. Who has the youth has the future. Businesses and the mayor see that. It is the same with the federal government.

exactly! (about the eggs in the basket analogy).

i disagree about the "MAGA folks". who, where? in Pittsburgh city? they are probably such a small minority (in this supposedly 'diverse' society everyone claims to strive for) in this town that that clause or phrase is just erroneous.

i am not sure if democrats in Pgh are 'disaffected'. I think most are actually content, if they were interviewed and answered honestly. they may have the same stresses there ALWAYS had been w/ raising kids and caring for a home and all that. I believe people confuse voices of the poor/oppressed w/ democrats in general. I get your point about that, though.

Many expect to get what others have. In this case they see other areas getting more so they want more. Then when the area gets “better”, people follow the money, prices go up, and those same people complain about being gentrified out.

Lol. Many Dems need coddled and someone to pay attention to them. MAGA folks aren’t interested in being coddled or communism/socialism...and since Biden is going to turn up the presses and give out $$$ in record numbers immediately, maybe Peduto and his supporters are counting on relief like that for the city.

My overall point is follow the money and innovation. That’s where the resources go. Hence it is no big secret why there is such a focus on the east end only. Peduto is a clown but the future of Pittsburgh is coming out of the east end. Only if/when the other areas come back and provide revenue will they get the same attention and polical pandering.

I was talking on a national stage with MAGA and saying yes they are the minority and that’s why the moneymakers, business and the Silicon Valley flipped the switch on them. They don’t make money they cost money. Its the same concept as the areas of Pittsburgh that have a good number of people but produce nowhere near the innovation money and clout that comes out of the east end.

That’s why the mayor has done very little for Carrick and panders endlessly to the east end techies. Who makes the money and where does it come from? You know. Once you figure that out then it’s easy to understand why businesses operate the way they do and government funding goes where it does.

Not saying I agree but that’s how life is and capitalism works. Money goes to money and helps money. Everything else is marginalized.

They likely will. Pittsburgh makes the money for the region. I’m surprised I have to explain this to you. Everything is money and business. Peduto panders to the money and business in the city and most politicians regardless of political party do the same.

MAGA means “my ... got arrested.” Lol. Those people don’t make money. If they did the switch wouldn’t have been flipped on them and Wendy Bell wouldn’t have been fired twice the last five years trying to do some Sad Facebook show from her kitchen. Even they banned her lol.

It’s really simple and it’s all about money whether your are mean and tell it how you think it is or if you are liberal and need hugs. If you are a money loser you get cancelled, cast aside and are marginalized. That’s how capitalism and the American dream works. Places and people that don’t pull their weight get very little in return.

Who said Pittsburgh didn’t make the money for the region?

Wendy Bell got fired because she’s was truthful, hit too close to home with her statements, and hurt feelings.

LMAO. They weren’t looting, stealing tvs, electronics, etc... If MAGA needed money they’d follow in the footsteps of the entitled Dems. No worries though, Sleepy Joe is going to pass out free stuff in record amounts, and his followers are begging for socialism/communism. Will he also be bailing out Pittsburgh?
