No harm just blabbing. Sorry.. It's a pretty house! Not that I couldn't afford to even heat the darn thing. And I loved the Munster's house. Grandpa ran for NY governor about 15 year ago

One of my favorite lawyers from my old firm would often say, during trial prep, rather uncannily, “It’s a trick question! It’s a bull**** question!”

Any home above 2 million in most markets do not sell quickly, especially in comparably sized metros.

I would say to really analyze this would be to talk to someone who has access to the Pittsburgh MLS which actually tracks the sale of homes, and you can look at the numbers accurately.

here's an example of true pittsburgh class doing what the "robber barons" did for the city back in the day with their million-dollar mansions - make the city better for the people - where do you think mellon park came from?

Longtime Hillman residence is gifted to Carnegie Mellon University

see, i disagree with your sentiment. its going to CMU - a non-taxable entity. i would rather it is owned by a wealthy family who can enjoy the home, pay taxes on it, and inject wealth into the community by spending their money here and there.

or, an exclusive hotel or b&b. SOMETHING besides more to the universities.

im too cheap to pay for the PG, so i cant read the article. by 'gifted', does that mean CMU paid zero for it? they have gazillions.

I think it’s a win-win either way. Also, while CMU is by no means cash-poor, their endowment is much lower than their prestige and stature would suggest. It’s now ~$2.67B, which is MUCH higher than where it stood even ten years ago, but Pitt’s endowment, by comparison, exceeds $4B.

Mind you, Pitt’s endowment is much higher than its prestige and stature would suggest. I believe the medical school has a lot to do with that.
