Pittsburgh ranks first as best city for relocating families (Indiana: best cities, DMV)

It would be logical that if Pittsburgh ranks as America's most livable city then it should be among the best cities to relocate families to as well.
That's Pittsburgh's newest PR trophy, achieving the number one ranking of the "Best Cities for Relocating Families" among large metropolitan areas in the United States.

Just speaking personally, we were considering the possibility of going to some other cities for a while, but having a child did in fact change the equation considerably in Pittsburgh's favor.

Just looked at it, thanks, Brian. They lost a huge amount of cred with me by ranking Gary, IN at 45 in mid-size metro areas. I mean, Gary may make a comeback, but not in my lifetime! Here is a thread from Northwest Indiana:

I know, I posted the story and the Moderator cut it down and put in the link for copyright issues. There's not much to the story just what the criteria was and who some of the top results were.

Well, the Gary Metropolitan Division actually covers four entire counties in northwest Indiana--Jasper County, Lake County, Newton County, and Porter County. See here:

As many people in the discussion you linked pointed out, Gary proper is distinct from the rest of this area, and in fact I suspect most people in those areas would consider themselves part of the greater Chicago region, rather than part of a Gary-dominated region. Indeed, Gary itself only has around 100,000 people, making it only about 1/7th of the total population of the Gary Metropolitan Division.

In short, I wouldn't be thrown off by the fact that they happened to name it the "Gary Metropolitan Division". That is really just a convenient name, at least for most of the region (besides Gary itself).
