61-101 and Cruz gets a few hits and a dinger. Should sell a couple hundred season tickets. Rumor has it season tickets are going up. Can’t believe people actually buy them but they know the corporate accounts will pay for them.

Who wants to move the team? Not Nutting, he's got a cash cow whether they win or lose.

Bingo…although if a bigger cash cow presents itself when the lease is up in 2030, I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he’d try to move the team.

I agree. The current ownership has no respect for the great history of this team, save for marketing Clemente's #21 to death. The years 2012-2014 were a fluke. Gave us a glimmer of hope. But nah - back to the same old wait wait wait for a good team, rebuilding phase BS excuses.

ps And Ralph Kiner was probably the best player in team history, along with Honus Wagner. Nary a mention of either guy these days, sadly.

No one needs to worry about the team moving. Its not that easy. Just as the Rays who are actually pursing this asinine dual city approach with Montreal. So long as there is a workable stadium (check++++ in Pittsburgh's case) and someone that wants to own the team, MLB would block any move. Other than that though, we are F'ed as fans.

Hypothetical, lets say the Pirates get the Cleveland Browns treatment. Owners get to move the team, MLB promises a new team in a couple years. Would having no baseball for 2 years be worth getting a new team with better owners? Obviously not happening but IMO an interesting proposition.

Only chance fans have of seeing a quality product is a GM that can draft well and put folks in charge that can develop players, especially pitching.

Considering Nutting is a terrible owner and has no interest in fielding a winning team if it’s going to cost him money to do so, the team moving and another owner bringing a team to Pittsburgh seems a gamble worth taking.
