Hi, we're looking for someone/some service to:
- cut our grass
- treat our lawn as needed (prevent weeds, patchy spots)
- collect leaves in the fall
- haul away various bags of yard refuse that we collect periodically

Any recommendations?

This really is dependent on where you live. I would look for a landscaper already working in your neighborhood. No one from the North Hills would want a client in the South Hills.

Correct! We got our guy by checking out the neighborhood crews and the job they did. Most advertise their numbers on their trucks. Or just stop and ask.

As far as weeding, I would consider not doing it at all. A lot of the broadleaf "weeds" are excellent pollen sources (dandelion, clover) for the native bees that are struggling to survive. Something like 70% of the fruit and vegetables grown to feed us depends on pollination. Less bees = less food. We've been sold by the chemical companies on the need to "weed and feed" for so long, people don't stop to think about what it means in the larger scheme.
