Big Ed says it’s time to take action. Perhaps the social workers will be unleashed to whip the criminals into shape.

stay optimistic. awareness and action is better than apathy. i think we are heading in the right direction - way too late, but people all over expect SOMETHING, finally.

a mother actually snitched on her 16 (17?) year old son who held up the Circle K (my bike stop for refeshment and brief rest), armed and w/ a mask.

Believe it when I see it. I don’t believe for a second that police are going to be able to do their jobs and put these clowns away. I expect to see the community leaders rally the protesters depending on who gets shot, and/or how they’re handled. I do love how the Chief was all but ousted hence he “retired”, yet was good enough for the FBI to hire him. I expect folks to continue to reap what they sow and for the violence to continue.

do you care to expand on that? for example, is this confined to the City? one or two particular neighborhoods? can the demo be targeted with any consistency (eg. males, 17-35, or no dominating gender, etc.). Is it always a firearm? are the actors always drunk, and/or are these always in the wee hours?

i just am curious on your deeper thoughts about this, if you wish to share them.

As we’ve seen, it’s happening more and more in many parts of the city, and has become so bad in the Southside that even Big Ed has decided to take notice. We’ve certainly seen the demographic in the news on almost a daily basis. We also continue to hear how community leaders and folks in these places want something done about it, while crying about not wanting the police in certain problem areas and protest when a poor entitled criminal is shot. It’s been more and more firearms along with knives. Have you not been reading the links of where the violent crime has been happening and the weapon/s used?

"In that sense, social media for us is the devil. A lot of feuds have started on social media..."

people have become more prone to manipulation - of their fears, their pride, media over-hype, etc.

that, and the stress of constant noise and inconvenience resulting from a growing self-centeredness and lack of consideration.
