just got back from market district on centre in shadyside - there wasn't one package of generic or ore-ida french fries or related idaho potato product, only sweet potato fries and onion rings

did manage to grab the last two bags of the fancy, organic fries which i normally would never buy

how the hell does giant eagle market district in shadyside not have ANY frozen french fries? things are messed up for real

Ugh I have this fight all the time, yes so many logistical issues. Just goes to prove our country is too big for these major distribution hubs in times of crisis. Great for max profits but these type of issues make that setup a real challenge.

At this point I'm not even sure where to throw the blame. For all I know there is a pallet of those fries sitting in the back w/ no staff to stock or maybe not enough drivers to deliver or .......the supply chain issues can be never ending.

I really think it comes down to staffing overall, every business has a sign/warning that they are understaffed and please excuse the issues. We had a pickup for a birthday from Cheesecake Factory early this month, I got there and my order was messed up but the point is they had 4 business hours left in the day but were closing 3 hrs early since too many staff didnt show.

It's not just that store, it's large swaths of country as I assume you've heard? Nothing but sweet potato fries either in in my neck of the woods.

March/April 2020 I went to buy chicken at the store, they had none so I bought lamb chops and brisket
Just last week for the first time since they didn't have chicken again, but shrimp was 50% off.

We all have to make sacrifices...

Yes. This is going to be the new norm. Many people retiring in droves, others not coming back into the workforce to care for family members or children. The under 45 folks are rethinking what they want out of life and doing something different.

On top of record numbers calling off work sick due to the virus.

I drove 28 today all the way up to I-80. There are so many depressed boroughs, townships and villages. I’m convinced it will never come back in my life. So many states are like this. If it wasn’t for the jobs in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia this state would be probably the poorest in the country. So many for sale, vacant overgrown and ramshackle property it’s mind boggling. Eastern Butler county is a dive

There’s also a huge amount of ships that have been waiting to unload and continue to wait to unload. Hence a huge part of the shortages.

Just one of many articles.

And Sleepy Joe won’t let unvaxxed truckers in to deliver goods, but will allow unvaxxed and untested migrants in. The hypocrisy is also a big problem.

Im 99% sure you didnt go up to I80. So I call partial BS on this.

New ken to south of kittanning, sure, its more run down in the mill towns, but once you crossed the river you had really nothing but farm houses (non vacant, non run down, non overgrown and most importantly, none for sale - all of last weekend) then distant, new beth, hawthorn, shannondale, summerville and brookville. those are some of the NICEST curb appeal jefferson county neighborhoods, still mostly owner occupied and high levels of property care, and once again - nothing for sale. There are 2 properties entering summerville and one at the turn for Ohl that are not as well kept - via collections of stuff. But overgrown? hardly. and once again, almost nothing for sale.

In northern jefferson, clarion and forest counties we have low owner occupancy rates. as low as 30%, but we have almost a zero vacancy rate. they are now camps bought by....mostly people from pittsburgh. avg time on market up there is 5 days and the realtors have almost no inventory. My place, since I moved to pitt, is technically one of the 'camps', i just happen to be there every week. I have been up and down this route for 57 years and its easy to tell when someone is BSing us.
