First tornado of the season on 3/31/22 EF-2. Touched down in Armstrong County. Thankfully nobody was hurt.

27 tornadoes were confirmed in 2021 for western pa. A record year last year.

Its usually a record because its now much easier to detect them with all the tech. that didn't exist before.

Armstrong County is part of the Pittsburgh metro area, just like westmoreland, butler, etc.

But from penn hills, homestead north side in, my answer is still zero.


If we get a twister up in kittanning (it happens) I am going to smack anyone in pitt that says 'hey we got a tornado..'

So it’s technology that has been around for 25 years or more. It’s a good thing but the response from the other poster made it seem like it was implemented within the last few years.
