https://triblive.com/lifestyles/food...y-in-millvale/

"That reliable Frenchman who patrons have watched behind the counter for 30 years creating his sweet desserts and lovingly layering sheets of buttery dough for croissants is selling Jean-Marc Chatellier’s French Bakery in Millvale."

that's what i'm talking about - good, good, good

Former Howlers owner will open The Bridge as East Liberty's new live music venue

https://www.post-gazette.com/ae/musi...s/202206230109

"You may remember with the closing of Howlers in Bloomfield, there was a promise of live music in East Liberty.

It will become a reality on Aug. 5 when The Bridge opens at 6018 Broad St., the former site of Walsh’s Lounge & Bar, which has been vacant since 2005.

The Bridge is the creation of former Howlers owner Susan Coe, joined by general manager Kevin Saftner, who booked a wide variety of music at his family-owned James Street Gastropub and Speakeasy, which closed in 2017 (and will soon get new life with a different owner)."

James Street Gastropub was a great venue. Food was mediocre but they did get some really good music there. I'm all for supporting live music.

as soon as people start snapping up those 2 million dollar apartments, downtown will come roaring back to life

Fast-casual restaurant owners’ experience downtown shows where restaurants are hurting the most

https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsbur...s-hurting.html

"But now times have changed, with the pre-pandemic days gone, dismantled by government shutdowns and remote work arrangements. For Waller, that has meant a significant drop off in sales as lunch-time traffic just hasn’t rebounded.

At a recent event, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership put the number of restaurant closures downtown during the pandemic at more than 40."

Vallozzi calls it quits on Earth Inspired Salads after Restaurant Revitalization Fund falls through

https://www.bizjournals.com/pittsbur...estaurant.html

"But Earth Inspired Salads also faced a far more challenging business environment downtown from the time the pandemic hit, as daytime population mostly evaporated from companies shifting to remote work arrangements."

The Olde Place Inn on Streets Run Rd has reopened with the same Chef. It was closed for at least a year and I was surprised it came back.
