so NYC just dropped a nuclear preparedness video

Nuclear Preparedness PSA (with captions)

"NYC Emergency Management shares important steps for New Yorkers to follow if a nuclear attack occurs."

not sure why this dropped now - maybe our proxy war in ukraine against the 2nd largest nuclear power in the world has something to do with it

so make sure you're prepared! make sure you know the location of your nearest fallout shelter!

The city that never sleeps, because they want residents to be completely totally afraid 24/7. Tripled masked, quintuple vaxxed, and now be very afraid of a nuclear event. Wow has that city hit the bottom.

Tying this back to the concerts thread, last week, Roger Waters performed a song he wrote in the 1980s about the doomsday clock and nuclear annihilation. During the song, the large digital screens showed a somewhat dated animated video (I assume from the 1980s, when the song was written) featuring, I sh-t you not, about 10 minutes of cartoon folks being blown apart, burned and eviscerated by nuclear explosions. Good times, PGH!

Haha. Who ever said Roger Waters was too serious? Sounds like such an optimistic guy!

Just think what John Lennon could've done with media if he'd been around long enough. Sometime in NYC album ... one big long depressing video.

Many older buildings have the fallout shelter signs. Not that it would have helped much.

i think its logical they have some plan in place. saying they do not want people to be "totally afraid" is kind of mud slinging.

what IF the need was there after all? they'd be bad leaders for not preparing NOW?

NYC would be incinerated in a nuclear war. They're the top financial and civilian target in the US. So many nukes would be aimed there, it would be uninhabitable for a period of time. Same with the entire DC region.

I wouldn't be able to guess where a "good" location would be if that happened.
