Such a shame we allow this, but we do and will continue to let such a treasure deteriorate. Sad really.

I sort of hate posting this, but do you want me to lie? Go down there yourself and have a look. I didn't feel unsafe riding a bike, but walking would be different. Maybe not for me as I am a pretty big man, but I don't think older people or women should roam around such an area anymore. Geez.
I think some agency passed out tents. I see them in the park on the north side. My favorite is the lady living on the traffic island on ft pitt and smithfield.

"Lisa Franks, the Gainey administration's chief operating officer, said the answer is more housing."

^ Then why did he side with the Boomer NIMBY groups in Oakland who forced Walnut Capital to SCALE BACK its plans there? Then why didn't he make a public statement denouncing the zoning hearing board for denying Mozart's plans to build a new residential mid-rise along South Aiken Avenue because the Boomers in Shadyside didn't want more housing? If Mayor Gainey is so "in touch" with the city's housing shortage then why isn't he doing more to address it? He's been mayor for seven months so far, and what has he accomplished thus far?

You are a liar. You made your way to the reddit post where somebody posted a video of these tents. You even commented on how the tents are super nice, you are a despicable individual and it was nice when you were gone.

you meant "are you STALKING me".

you are right about this, though. it is disgusting to have these people use the common spaces (even those not accessible, like the nooks beneath roads and such) as their personal latrine and lounge areas.

What will happen when one takes a stroll across the 10th street bypass and is hit and killed, then?
or when one attacks a tourist, or a local?

will it THEN be a problem? if there were some kind of accommodations, like reserved area where they can set up, OK. the area can be monitored for hygiene and illegal drug selling, or at least be served by social service visitors or mental health counselors....

but if they are given free reign, why not next to a school? an elderly persons' residence?
or, your OWN residence?

I must really be hated on all fronts if people attack a spell check. I posted that from my phone and if it fills it in I let it. Sunny and riding a bike. Who cares? Geez, hate is really strong in this city. I hate to say this, but when you get farther out from the city itself, people are still nice. In Florida people are amazing in the areas I am in. Love happy people.

Enjoy....geez.

As somebody who has actually recently cycled past one of these camps, though I am not fond of this, there was no sense of danger. There is another one more hidden near the casino, and just past it there is an old concrete pier that I USED to enjoy going out on to take in the views. Now it's used as a toilet for the hidden camp and it's disgusting. I have sympathy for the plight of the homeless, have even had friends who were homeless over the years. I don't think a lot of these younger people are in these camps by necessity. These people look more of the gutter punks, traveler type "homeless". I have known some of them too and these people do this as a lifestyle choice.
