I thought these forums would be a great place to start our search for info on finding a camp. Does anyone know anything about Elk county? We visited Benezette and watched the elk roam freely down the roads and through the woods and we were hooked. We figured someone on here might have family up that way that would know of camps available for sale. Or even land to build on. This was just the most beautiful part of PA we've ever seen. If anyone can point us in the right direction, it would be appreciated!

hey, I'm a native of Elk County! I'm from St. Marys, which is the largest town in the county. Whenever I tell somebody from Pittsburgh I'm from Elk County, they reply "Oh, my family has a camp up there!" lol

Anyways... a lot of Elk County is public land... the Benezette area is a lot of State Forest... there's a lot of back roads in the area lined with camps. My parents are building a camp right now on their land. I really don't know how to help you with this... but I wish you luck.

I can't help you, but my parents have a camp at the nelson run campground past the worton. that is past George B stevenson dam. what they do is buy a 18 foot camper and part it up there year round. not sure what it cost. I seen some people even build a small camp. they build them at home and take them up in pieces. they look great. I personally haven't been up there in 5 years, I"m sure lots has changed. good luck.
