While on the north side, you can check out the National Aviary as well. If you don't want to spend all your time in Pittsburgh, if you head out east past Greensburg to Ligonier, there are all kinds of things out that way. Also, out towards Seven Springs you can visit Fallingwater.

If you are into walking/biking, there are lots of trails alongside the rivers. Have a good visit.

Ok, I've got some disagreeing to do. The North Side is bad in parts, here and there. It's also a HUGE area, so that is to be expected. I'm all over the place here, day and night, and I've never run into trouble. Don't walk around Manchester at night. Don't walk (or drive) through Charles Street Valley at night. Ignore how rough the intersection of Charles St. and Perrysville Ave. looks. Other than that, enjoy Riverview Park (my backyard) and Allegheny Observatory (in the park) and the National Aviary(great) and Mattress Factory (still haven't been, need to go) and Andy Warhol Museum and Ohio Street shops in historic Deutschtown (during the day, only because they close at night) and then eat at the Commodore Cafe in Observatory Hill (unforgettable collection of knick knacks and a menu of over 50 sandwiches). You might even get a neighborhood history and antiques lesson from proprietor Mr. Bill, who also owns Mr. Bills Tap and Grille next door. I love the North Side!

Sorry it took so long to respond. The trip was a BLAST.
The strip is AWESOME. Very good reccomendation on that. The park at the confluence is gorgeous. I loved the incline at Mt Washington too.
Pittsburgh is a great city. Looks like they have a great future ahead. We saw a Pirate's game. THat was fun even though they're horrible.
Thanks sooo much for all the help. It was a great time
