I do have a problem though with this proposed horse race track in the south east corner of the city. There are plenty of betting tracks in the area, they don't need one right smack dab in the city limits, ruining a natural wildlife habitat.
Yeah, I'm just hearing about this horse track now. Southeast corner of the city, where would that be? Hazelwood area? And I didn't know there were plenty of betting tracks in the area. I use to go to the Meadowlands, hit a trifecta for a nice pay off one time, but where are the others?

I think the arena that they may be refering to is On the side of streets run road. Just at the foot of the Hazelwood bridge on the hillside. I agree with dugdog about them ripping the greenlands to make something like this. At the same I am like DO IT this is city can be plain at times. Sounds very exciting.

Man, as I've already admitted and as my moniker does too, I no longer live in the city, but! One thing Pittsburgh has is alot of greenery, if not right in the city limits then a stone's throw away. What there is a definite shortage of in my hometown is business!

I guess there's alot of development going on in the city. Downtown, they're converting old buildings and putting up new ones to try and encourage people to live in town. The North Side is jumping off and the South has been underway for some time. An exciting time for Pittsburgh.

What's happening with the skyscraper that's going in at Fifth and Liberty? Another PNC building, isn't it? Have they started on the above ground frame yet, or is it still just a hole in the ground?

I have pictures of the new 3 PNC building going up in the Pittsburgh Pictures sticky thread. It's coming along very nicely, it's only about 1/2 it's intended height right now though.

Thanks, I will check that out. A mixed-use building I know, but I've heard that the most expensive of the condos are going to be in the million$ range. True?

An edit: Those are some great shots. Pittsburgh has so much character, especially now with all these new things going up, great additions, contrasts, to the old that is everywhere around. I found a cite once that had artist's renderings of the proposed/finalized new construction projects in the city. If I can find it and figure out how to do it I'll post the link. This internet is a young man's game; the rest of us are just lucky to be playing.

I didn't know that was a skyscrapper in the making. I think the most exciting for me is the tunnel under the river.

I have no clue what the price ranges are for the condos in 3 PNC when it's completed. Some of the asking prices for the ones around downtown already completed and ready to move into are anywhere from just under 100k to over 500k.

If you go to skyscraperpage(dot)com, click on forums, then find the "Pittsburgh rundown" thread. It lists every development(in every phase) going on in the city right now, and there's a ton of them.

Those photos you posted are great. Is it me or does Pittsburgh look on the verge of something? Seems like it's a city really trying to bust out of its skin and transform into something. Wishful thinking on my part? Whattya think?
