We are relocating to Pittsburgh soon and are thinking about living in Fox Chapel. My husband and I are big golfers and have heard good things about the Field Club. We are coming from a town in which the 3 country clubs all have a wait list, are very expensive and require at least five members to sponsor the new candidate. Is it like that at the Field Club? Is there another club we should look at? We have 1 son who is 3.

You will need a sponsor at Oakmont but it is a classic links course.

Upper St. Clair CC is nice but again you will need a sponsor.

Nevillewood is nice, with a nice housing development - don't know about sponsorship.

That said, there are so many golf courses in this area you will have plenty of options. As for getting sponsored, it is not impossible to do here, it just takes getting to know people a little, which isn't too hard here.

The Field Club and Oakmont are probably world class, to be sure. But there are so many in the PGH area that are hurting for members, you should have no problem finding one you like.

This is very true. You should have no problem. Wildwood is dying for new members.

They sure are, I get invited to join every year, and I don't golf.
