I know a lot of people love Oakmont Bakery, Moio's (Monroeville), The Priory on the North Side and Bethel Bakery.

Any others?

RIP Jenny Lee

There were alotta great bakeries in Pgh in the day, Stagno's, Barsotti's, Benvenutti's, not even sure how many of these still exist. But my all-time favorite was one called Anne's, used to be on Banksville Road a hundred years ago. And last I heard had moved way out on 19 south in Peter's or some other suburb I couldn't easily name. But, if you like butter cream icing this is the one.

I remember a chain called Barker's Bakeries? My mom bought potato bread there weekly. I remember it because we always called it Baker's Barkery. And one called Dudt's that was pretty good for bread, too... (Wexford area)

My mother was not a sweet "buyer". Birthdays and celebration cakes and confections were homemade.

Sometimes when I hear myself say this stuff I realized I was raised weird.

Entenmann's - owned by Mexican corp. Grupo Bimbo! I was at their Plum outlet one day when prices were half-off and a woman was there who drove all the way from WV.

Barkus "Butter Makes It Better" was their motto. I didn't much like them. I liked Jenny Lee a lot, but Rhea's Bakery was by far my favorite as a kid growing up.
