My husband and I are considering a move to Pittsburgh. We are both young professionals and want to live in the suburbs. We've toured the Robinson area and loved it...can someone fill me in on all the major companies in the Robinson area to assist with our job search? I know ThermoFisher, Bayer, FedEx and Dick's Sporting Goods are there....what else is in the vicinity?

Seems there are lots of opportunities downtown but we'd like to avoid commuting if at all possible.

Thanks!

What profession is it that you are looking into? ThermoFisher is a great company to work for I hear. Many of these places are right near where I work (Comcast).

The area is booming, traffic can get a little hectic, but is leaps and bounds better than Downtown as far as parking and/or bus fare.

Let me know and I'll try to help out more if I have any other info.

Agreed, but the architecture is as big box lame as it gets and the layout is annoying. Would it kill them to create a walkable shopping area there?

I think GlaxoSmithKline has an office there, as does Comcast. Dick's is in RIDC park, on the other side of Pittsburgh.

EDIT: It's probably an hour from Robinson to Dick's headquarters

Dick's Sporting goods is definitely near Robinson. It's in RIDC park West I think the previous poster is mistaken.

You're right. I could have swore I went to an interview there at the other RIDC. I must be going crazy.

Wow that's really cool, I had no idea! I will have to check out where exactly that is on google maps. It would be nice if they could somehow connect it to the rest of the shopping center and the mall so you still don't have to drive all around up there.

Yeah the Dick's building is out Aten Rd. Get off the Montour run Exit and follow around to Cliff Mine Rd. Then make a right onto Aten Rd. and follow out about 3-4 miles.

I went to Robinson Twp.'s home page and found an entire list of businesses in the Airport Area Chamber of Commerce. Just pick what type of business you're looking for, and there it is!

Here's the Robinson Twp. homepage: Welcome to Robinson Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania
