Hi- I lived in Pgh growing up and now my husband and I are going to move back to the burgh to start a family- better job- better cost of living- lower housing prices- etc- I was wondering- where/ what areas would be good to look at- we want to live in the suburbs- we will both have jobs downtown/Lawrenceville areas- (possibly Monroeville)- We are looking for good schools, lower taxes, and outdoor stuff (we like to bike and kayak)? Anything anyone can suggest? are there any really hot suburbs that are "up and coming" or neighborhoods with great sense of community? What do you think-

I'd say the North Hills is up and coming, and some people I know have moved beyond the County limits to save on taxes. Where did you grow up?

You might like the Cherry city section of Shaler twp up behind Mt Alvernia school. Great schools, nice homes and you are in the city in minutes.....

You want to live in the suburbs but aren't much for commuting?

Murrysville isn't in the North Hills nor was it when you grew up here and lived next to it in Plum.

Possibly you would like the Friendship or Morningside areas of the city?
