Default Good news; new furniture!

We just got a batch of hand-me-down furniture from our friends @ Ross Park Mall... seems they're getting new furniture, so now we get their old leather (pleather??) seating!

Hey--any facelift is a good one, so long as one doesn't come out looking like Joan Rivers....

Yep, I've mentioned before that I work at South Hills Village, and they just announced it today. I'm happy, that extra half hour (9:30) has always been ridiculous.

Yeah. We knew this one was coming for the last month or so. Simon is reflecting the general downturn in shoppers at ALL the malls, by doing what they can to save electricity... and closing a bit earlier or opening later is a great way to cut down the monthly bills a bit...

We're told, by our own government, to go out and spend (after 9/11) to show our patriotism... I mean, come on!!!

Much better, would have been for us to be told to "support local businesses".... shopping at Wal-Mart or the Mall isn't really helping anyone locally, except the retail clerks who all make low wages....

Better still, would have been for the government to have supported low-interest loans for new businesses to start up... start filling these mega-malls with LOCAL FARE that you can't find in every other mall of similar facade, throughout the country!

How many Spencer's, Hot Topics, and Claire's do we really need, after all????

I don't know that a local business could afford the rent at malls. Around 1970, the smallest shop at Monroeville Mall was Pipes Unlimited, a smoking/cigars, etc. It was about 10' wide by 30' deep in retail area. They said their rent was $2,100 per month.

I imagine deals are made when certain locations become vacant. If so, it seems when that deal-lease runs out so does the tenant. You want to be in the best location affordable and for the average family business I don't think you can get much.

How do the rents run at Century III?
