I'm going to guess South Oakland. I'm pretty sure that's the South Side across the river. And that building to the left, behind the homes in the foreground, looks like part of the technology park.

Exactly. That's Ophelia St, close to the intersection of Forbes and Blvd of the Allies, just south of the Magee-Womens Hospital.

Hey! I used to live on Ophelia, right at the intersection with Forbes in the house that looks like the Adams Family house. I don't recognize those homes though, I guess they're a few blocks further down.

I couldn't really tell ya right now what it's like. But, when I lived there it was a nice neighborhood, not necessarily family oriented though, mostly college students renting. As for schools, it would be City of Pittsburgh public school system.

I know that parts of South Oakland feed to Greenfield K-8 and Allderdice HS. Allderdice has a good reputation. My daughter went to Greenfield and I thought it was a fine elementary school but had some problems as a middle school.

There are cool families and conscientious homeowners living in S. Oakland, but there have been serious problems in the past- from nuisances like noise and trash to episodes of violence. I think it's one of those areas where there are good and bad blocks.

Ahhh, some of my best memories are in that area. I lived one street down on Lawn street in a house that overlooked South Side. I used to use the Equitable Gas clock across the river to tell time from my room . Had friends on Ophelia who were host to a number of great parties...

Punch in 242 Ophelia on Google Street View and it'll show the picture of these neat houses. Neato!

I cannot say now, but back in the day (4 years ago) it wasn't the safest area in South Oakland. A friend of mine had his house broke in to twice on Ophelia. The new construction may help if they clean up the old auto dealer and add some lights to the area.

I moved to Pittsburgh 10 years ago and was told never go on the non-Pitt side of the Blvd of Allies. The only exceptions were Parkview one block in and the street below it towards downtown.

Again, to reiterate I am not bashing. Just giving my first hand knowledge of the area from friends, etc...
