We might be relocating to Pittsburgh where I'll be working at UPMC (and eventually be moved to the new campus when they open up in Lawrenceville)

Is there any chance for a suburbia type living with under 1hour commute? Some kinda place where theres around 50yards+ distance between you and the next house...

Any help appreciated

There are alot of areas that are suburban within an hour commute, the question is, what hours will you be working, and how bad do you want to sit in traffic comming into the city every day.

In certain instances, an hour outside of Pittsburgh can lead you to major farmland. lol.

Default Not too far to go

There are lots of medical workers in Fox Chapel, and it's probably 20 minutes to Lawrenceville. It's also on the same side of the city. Maybe not quite 50 yards between houses, but zoning rules require a minimum 3 acre lot. House prices and property taxes are high.

if you are consideringh a 60 minute commute, remember that gas prices are going up and winter weather can turn that sort of a drive into a nightmare.

i live in aspinwall & there is maybe a foot or 2 between myself & my neighbors. i love it here, houses are kind of spendy & taxes are high (that is correct) but as far as 50 ft. to your next neighbor?....i would suggest looking into the north hills or south hills suburbs. you can easily commute in an hour & still have alot of land. i would suggest: northhills: wexford or zelionople/ south hills: mt.lebanon, upper st. clair or Peters twp. if u wanna stay very close & you have money, check out fox chapel. you can drive to lawrenceville in about 10-15 min. good luck!!

Will you have parking on the Children's Hospital Campus? Many UPMC employees who do not use public transit are shuttled from various satellite lots. This could significantly add time to your commute.
