Hello All,
I was wondering what you could tell me about McGuffey School District? I know the basic stats, but we may be moving to the area and want some inside info about the schools. Kids would be attending Joe Walker Elementary. Any help would be appreciated!

I grew up and went to school in McGuffey School District (class of 1995). My parents still live in the district. The district is pretty average in its curricullum (used to be quite good). Joe Walker is a wonderful elementary school, though (that was my elementary school). It is in the "rich" part of the district, so the parents tend to be more demanding.

The downside would be that the school district is large. When your child goes to middle/high school, they will potentially be travelling by bus for an hour to get to school. (I was on the bus for about 35-40 minutes, and I was the last stop before the elementary school -- meaning there were kids already on the bus that had been on the bus for a half an hour or more. We would drop of the Joe Walker kids then go on to the middle/high school. I don't know if they've segregated the younger and older kids since then.)

Other than that, there is nothing wrong with McGuffey. I wouldn't have any issues sending my daughter there.
