'Cause I'm sure NOBODY who dresses "well" is an "idiot".

It wasn't a nice restaurant if you and a bum were in it.

You'll see that all across America. The countries best dressed cities are basically NYC (Manhhattan), LA, and San Fransico.

I still cringe when I see men wearing hats inside a restaurant, hey, anyone remember manners?

And twice when I went to court, once for a traffic ticket and once for jury duty, I couldn't get over the slobs wearing stretch pants and steeler jersey. In a court of law?

Maybe it's generational, I entertained one of my best clients and her office a few years back. Not a formal dinner party, just semi-casual. One 20-something secretary brought her boyfriend, wearing a wife beater shirt and a steeler hat on backwards. Now that's class.

About a year ago I traveled to Bethesda, MD on business. Met a friend at a restaurant and I could not believe the manner of dress. Everyone was shirt and tie, I felt like a slob wearing dockers and a golf shirt. No Redskins jerseys there.

Whatever, I tend to dress professionally on a daily basis. What's that old line, You only get 1 chance at a first impression.

Not really. You don't have to be "best dressed" to dress well at a restaurant. But the poeple around here consider Stiller garb to be all-occasion fashion.

Well, jump over to the Chicago forum. There's a thread going right now about how the 'people' in Chicago are running around with "hats, sweatshirts, jeans, tennis shoes, etc". So, apparentely, Pittsburgh's not the 'only' city this happens in! And the 3 cities I listed, the average person dreeses WAY better than the rest of America!

Pittsburgh should not be in the same sentence as "fashion"...sorry folks! And, THIS coming from a born and BRED Pittsburgher. We FOLLOW trends we don't START trends and most times, by the time we start to follow the latest trend, its way old in comparison to the bigger cities....That's why I am always looking in the fashion magazines to keep up on my fashion, because if I follow what I see people wearing here, and wear it to a city such as D.C., I'd get laughed at and clowned and have comments hurled at me such as "we were wearing that 2 years ago"!!
