I have kids who like to go out on the South Side. They have friends who have apartments there. They have a hard time believing me when I tell them what the South Side was like 30 years ago. I try to explain that there were a lot of bars, but not like the bars today. And I doubt there were many, if any, college students living there.

This is what is was all about back then. Great times. It can't happen again. Too much paranoia for that kind of fun. Shame.

Yeah, I used to really hit the clubs. I was in my 20's for all but 14 months of the 1980's. The 70's had better music though.

The early 70's was decent, then all that disco crap hit the airwaves.

I just remembered about Studebaker's and The Avanti Lounge - used to have a good times there. (I taught disco at the technical school, can't remember the name, a branch of a community college as I recall).

What do you mean, "How do you teach disco?" Disco had actual moves, not just people jumping about. The top disco people were good and it was a phase that was a lot of fun. I was a bit young, but Saturday Night Fever was my fist R rated movie I saw on the big screen. I remember the movie theater calling my parents to get permission for me to see it. WOW how times have changed!

You were listening to the wrong stuff then. Anything by Funkadelic before 1976 does the trick for me.
