I give it an A plus, just try to get a seat there!

May I also suggest Pizzutti's in Shadyside if you like Itallian.

Luma in Aspinwall has become one of our favorites.

Cafe Sam on Baum Blvd is great too.

Monterey Bay on Mt. Washington, one of the best restaurants I've been to anywhere. I'm not big into seafood, but theirs is top notch, and the view of Pitt at night is amazing.

I had one of the best meals I've ever had at Soba in Shadyside. It's a bit pricey, but my dinner was worth it.

Kaya - Island cuisine...really good and a great happy hour or dinner (Strip District)
Penn Ave Fish Company - excellent sushi at lunchtime (Strip Distirct)
Coca Cafe - AWESOME brunch/breakfast/lunch place (Lawrenceville)

Some additional recommendations in addition to the ones others have given you. Many of those are also good. Pittsburgh actually has a pretty good restaurant scene for a city of its size.

Default South Hills (Cannonsburg, Bridgeville) or Washington

Ok, so tomorrow we are hitting the movies at the Waterfront early, and I thought we would try outside the city for something different. I'm thinking Cannonsburg, Bridgeville, or Washington. Any recommendations on good seafood or Itallian restaurants in that area?

If you like German food:

Max's Allegheny Tavern, on the Northside. Specifically in "East Allegheny" aka "Deutschtown".

It's been around for a longtime, and the food is great, and not pricey.

Also:

The Library on the Southside (E. Carson Street). It was once a real library and the food is themed as such. They have very good food in general, and amazing pommes frites (very high quality french fries) and as I recall, its not outrageous in price.

definitely second abay!

harris is nice for a kinda upscale casual thing..it's "kinda" pricey

eleven + soba + mad mex etc.. are a local chain. Maybe not exactly what your looking for. That said Kaya was spot on. Only went cause of coupons(how lame!) but more than impressed.

The question is where is good mexican that isn't a chain or the place on forbes in oakland..
