Art All Night Lawrenceville - an annual celebration of arts, community and creativity - is back for its 12th straight year on April 25 (starting at 6 p.m.) and 26 (ending at 2 p.m.).

The event, which attracts upwards of 7,500 attendees each year, features work by more than 800 artists, live music, interactive arts activities for children and adults, performance artists, a live broadcast by WYEP-FM. This year, Art All Night takes place a the brand new red warehouse building at 3510 Small Street in Lawrenceville. (Turn off Butler Street toward the river on 35th or 36th Street). Admission is FREE, and the event is open to the public.

Art All Night offers every artist, of any skill level, the opportunity to showcase one piece of artwork in the exhibit: no fees, no jury, no censorship. It is planned and coordinated by an all-volunteer organizing committe comprised of residents and supporters of Pittsburgh's vibrant Lawrenceville neighborhood. Scores of additional volunteers help to prepare the venue, construct exhibit panels, assist with registration, hang artwork and much, much more.

To learn more about the event, including how to register artwork and how to get involved as a donor or volunteer, visit Art All Night: Lawrenceville.

only highschool kids that never traveled anywhere else do.

What is being cultured? I doubt anybody out there who says, "pssshhh you yinzers are so uncultured" know all of Beethoven's symphonies, have a strong education in the history of theater, know every artist, been to every American and European art museum, follow all the latest scientific theories, read Steven Hawking, etc etc. The human brain can only absorb so much.

Being a person who has an intellect to want to explore arts, music, and science is being cultured to me. The same percentage of people who have a desire to feed their intellect with arts and culture are probably the same everywhere. The same percentage of people who only know American Idol and the Biggest loser are probably the same everywhere.

Some people mix culture with class. Such as putting your napkin on your lap at a McDonalds, or knowing the rotation of silverwear before a dinner. This is not culture, this is just stupid.

Not only highschool kids........I think in another thread I said why I thought PGH was uncultured. I give PGH credit for having alot of nice art galleries but that alone doesnt qualify for being cultured. JMHO
