I drive from Ohio to a place in Baden called Classic Cuts. Gary does my flat top free hand. You could talk to Gary on the phone. Tell him what you want, see what he says.

Baden is just a few miles North of Moon on Route 65. It's also known as Ohio river Boulevard. 724-869-3031

The place on Balm Blvd near Shadyside is called The Barbers Inn (412-404-7101) and it's described as a "masculine grooming lounge" atmosphere with billiards, chess, etc.

Eeek. Not even close.

I used to go to John Allan's downtown NYC for almost two decades, so I think I know what the OP is looking for. This place is most definitely NOT it.

There is a place called Mec in Mt. Lebanon that I've read about, but haven't been to because it's too far out of my way. I've pretty much given up trying to recreate the haircut (and especially the experience) that I could get in NY here. I've found a couple of local barbers that do an acceptable job and I'm back in NYC a couple of times a year to get things properly shaped up.

Hey Dusty,

I'm a soon to be NYC transplant to Pittsburgh myself, so this thread has come in handy.

Not to sound like a jerk, but you're saying that only barbers in NY can give you the haircut you want? Is it that hard to cut hair?

Sportclips is fun - they do a decent job and you can watch sports during the haircut.

As far as the best barbershop in Pittsburgh I have to go with V.I.P but if you trying to go to a Barbershop to play pool and stuff like that than I wouldnt know what to tell you. But V.I.P has some of the best barbers let alone in Pittsburgh. BTW I'm from NYC and L.I and I know how it is in NY but I'm telling you you cant beat V.I.P's.
