This is what the bar owner claims he has invested in the property. The allegheny county real estate website shows it was purchased for 300k in 2006. Does another 300k to update sound plausible? Seems high to me, but I have no experience with these types of renovations.

Absolutely. It is extremely expensive to open a restaurant and the latest changes to the Food Code make it even more so. I was surprised that the total cost was only $600k, however, based upon the menu (which is good, I might add), I assume that he doesn't need a lot of equipment that other restaurants might.
