New coaster to take Turnpike ride's spot at Kennywood

Looks like the classic Turnpike ride will be relocated so they can bring in one of those new fangled magnetic launchers. They are a great bang for the buck and don't take up as much space as the traditional coasters.

Wow, didn't they already installed some new rides last year. Now a new roller coaster is coming, it will be a very long process though. Btw, about this new roller coaster, will it be the same size of the Turnpike ride? and one more question, When are they going to start building it and prior to the opening date?

Not sold on this. I mean, I'm happy to get a new ride, but this looks like a cheap ripoff of Maverick at Cedar Point. I feel like they could have done better.

I have to agree. Doesn't seem very impressive. 95 feet tall? zzzzzzzzzzzz

Just requard my first post above. I was thinking of something else.

I would also have to agree, it will be a ripoff, and not very impressive. Only 65 seconds ride. Next summer, I will try out the ride. It will never beat Phantom's Revenge. Love that coaster.

I read they are going to run the turnpike for the last time this season on Sunday. I personally think a coster in this part of the park doesn't fit the surrounding landscape at all.

Also, I definitely agree with that. Of course, the crews at the park will recreate the landscape fitting. Assumed so anyways.

I'm not a fan of Kennywood anymore. It seems to be turning to "theme park-ish" to me. Give me a traditional smaller park (with general admission) and the older rides.

Kennywood is Kennywood not because they have the biggest, fastest, most state of the art rides. It's Kennywood because it's small, a bit old fashion, and a tradition for many in the area. They don't say Kennywood memories without reason. I have a photo of my grandparents and my mother when she was a teenager in the 70's. I was able to go to Kennywood nearly 30 years after that photo was taken and find the exact spot.
