raises hand. My good buddy is getting married!@
I don't know why many pittsburghers are thinking that is a good thing. Other than for international attention, moving from one part of the city to another will be a complete nightmare.
I remember being in London when one of these things were going on in 2006 and there were 500,000 protesters. it looks like Pittsburgh is doing a good job of making sure any unrest or protests don't take place...even if it sadly leads to a practice of Defacto martial law.

Protests are a part of the American culture and are legal under the Constitution. It's called exercising freedom of speech. This country would not be here if it were not for a few courageous people that spoke out against the injustices being perpetrated against the Colonists by the King of England. I for one will not accept or tolerate the desire by some people to trade their freedom for security. When you do, you ultimately wind up with NEITHER. America is not about living in a Police State.

I know, just taking a jab.
I talked with an Allegheny County Police officer on Sunday and he said the protests and trouble are a given, it's just to what extent. They recently went through training and had officers from all over the world who have participated in these events train them on what to expect.

The G-20 will just shine a spotlight on Pittsburgh, but won't bring in any new business to the area...if it does, cool.

We aren't going to have 500,000 protesters, here. How would they get here?
This isn't London (which is a lot easier to get into and out of than Pittsburgh and has a heck of a lot more hotel rooms) and this isn't the EU, which is considerably more socialist than the US and many more citizens who are anti-capitalists.
